Room Diffusers

- Will a fragrance diffuser harm a small animal living in the same room?
I have a pet hedgehog and he lives in my bedroom. I'm just wondering if a plug in fragrance diffuser (on the opposite end of my room) will harm him?

A Many fragrance diffusers have volatile organic compounds in them that are released. They are toxic and can cause physical problems for pets and humans. They have been connected to headaches, memory loss, cancer, nervous system disorders. I'm not sure how much they actually release or how much exposure it takes to have issues though.

- I have spilt some oil from my room fragrance diffuser on my wooden coffee table. Help!!!?
Not sure what wood it is. Its dark brown and a beautifully made coffee table that has white splashes all over one end. I would appreciate any help. Sorry for those of you who need it spelt out it is now a stain.

A Unfortunately, the only way to remove the stains is to strip away the finish on the affected areas. If it is a small enough area, it can be repaired/touched-up. If the damage covers a large area, it is best to just have it refinished, because it is difficult to touch-up large areas well, especially on table tops. I do furniture repair and I get these types of calls often (second only to the spilled nail polish remover). If you just try to touch it up without stripping the old finish, any lacquer applied will only react to the oils that have soaked into the top.
