Scented Oil Warmers Reviews - FAQ and Questions
- Should I unplug my scented oil warmers before we leave for a week long trip?
It is a wallflower from bath and body works and is not near empty is fire a concern? If I had safety instructions I wouldn't be asking this
A I have the same one from bath and body. I'vee had been purchasing them for months now. I love them! I went out of town for a week and i left it plugged in. I came back to a fire free home. I don't think it should be a major problem, but if you feel safer then I'd suggest you unplug them. Enjoy your Trip (: Hope i could help

- Scented oil warmers & oils?
I am wondering about the scented oil warmers, do they work? whats the best one to buy and what about scents?
A The fragrant oil is suspended in heated water. As the water evaporates the fragrance is carried aloft. Some warmers use tea candles to heat the water/oil mixture; others use electric elements. See first link below. The tea candles burn from 3 to 4 hours, though I've never actually timed one. The electric element must be turned off or unplugged. Allowing the water to evaporate completely can cause the oil residue to burn in the warming dish, making it difficult to clean. Cleaning the warming dish between uses is advisable to prevent residue buildup, but it's easily done with dish washing soap. Some oils are more prone to leave a residue. Some oils come with a drip spout. You can buy eye droppers, though the oil sometimes destroys the rubber bulb. And if you can't find anything else, a narrow drinking straw can be used as a pipette to transfer a few drops from the bottle to the bowl. Not all fragrant oils work well in warmers. Try to find a supply store that caters to massage therapists. They usually have several brands, and many scents at different strengths and prices. Different brands of lavender can range from flowery-sweet to almost evergreen. Some grocery stores carry fragrant oils on the same isle as incense and candles. Head shops, and stores that cater to pagan/magical interests will also carry these oils. Open the bottle and sniff the cap to sample the fragrance; many brands have testers. Do not put the oil on your skin as it may be strong enough to cause itching or a rash. Not all fragrance oils are safe to use on skin, and even those that are safe are diluted in other oils first. Some oils are very expensive; others are only a few dollars for the same amount. Orange blossom is one of the more expensive ones. If you find a cheap orange oil it is more likely to be a fruit fragrance than a blossom fragrance. Price is not a guarantee that you will like a fragrance. I have found some very cheap oils that were quite strong, where other brands required two to three times more oil to perfume the air as well. Any time you run across another brand you should check out the variety of scents available, the prices, and whether you like their scents better than another brand. Buy one to test in your warmer. You should also be able to find some sellers on line. The same scent can be vary from brand to brand. Some brands and scents I especially like are: Aura Cacia - Lavender, and Balsam Fir Needle; Scents of Creation - Amber; and from Love Is In The Air - Frankincense & Myrrh, and Patchouli. There was a brand I used to find at a local grocery store, but I can't remember the name now. It came in a slim square bottle attached to a hanging card. It had wonderful scents of rose, honeysuckle, and a heady floral called Rain Forest.
